At a glance
We are committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) at Level AA. If you encounter any accessibility issue, please contact us so we can address it.
1. Our Commitment
The Tax Lead Limited believes that good tax advice should be available to anyone who needs it. That includes ensuring our website is usable by people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.
We design and build our site with accessibility in mind from the outset, and we test new content and features for accessibility before publishing them. We also re-audit our existing content periodically and address issues as we find them.
2. Standard We Aim For
This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. WCAG is the international standard developed by the W3C and is the benchmark for accessible websites worldwide.
While conformance to WCAG 2.1 Level AA is not currently a legal requirement for private-sector commercial websites in the UK, we treat it as a professional standard and aim to meet it across all 125 pages of this website.
3. Accessibility Features Implemented
The following features have been built into our website to improve accessibility:
- Semantic HTML: headings, landmarks, lists, and forms use the correct HTML elements so screen readers can interpret structure correctly
- Skip-to-content links: every page has a "Skip to main content" link that becomes visible on keyboard focus, allowing keyboard and screen-reader users to bypass navigation
- ARIA labels: navigation regions, main content, and complementary content are labelled with role and aria-label attributes
- Form labels: all 179 form inputs across the site are properly associated with visible labels for screen-reader compatibility
- Image alt text: all images include descriptive alt text; decorative images use empty alt attributes
- Colour contrast: text and interactive elements meet the WCAG AA contrast ratio (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text)
- Keyboard navigation: all interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields, calculators) can be accessed and operated using a keyboard alone
- Focus indicators: visible focus rings show keyboard users which element is currently focused
- Responsive design: the site adapts to screen sizes from 320px (small phone) to large desktops, supporting users who need to zoom or use mobile assistive technology
- Reduced-motion support: the cookie banner and other animations respect the user's prefers-reduced-motion browser setting
- No autoplay media: we do not autoplay audio or video on any page
- Plain English: we aim to write technical tax content in clear, non-jargon language wherever possible, with technical terms explained on first use
4. Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, parts of this website are not yet fully accessible. We are aware of the following limitations:
- Calculator results: some calculator output is presented in tables that may be challenging for screen-reader users to interpret quickly. We are working on improved announcements for dynamic results.
- PDF downloads: our lead-magnet PDFs (such as the UK Landlord Tax Playbook and Corporation Tax Planning Guide) may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We provide HTML article equivalents for most content and are working to improve PDF accessibility.
- External embedded content: where we embed third-party content (for example, video from external platforms), the accessibility of that content is outside our control.
- Older blog articles: articles published before our website redesign in 2024 may not meet our current accessibility standards. We are reviewing and updating them progressively.
We are actively working to address these limitations. If any of them prevent you from accessing information you need, please contact us — we will provide the information to you in an alternative format.
5. Compatible Assistive Technology
We test our website with the following assistive technologies and browsers:
- Screen readers: NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), TalkBack (Android)
- Browsers: the latest two versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge
- Zoom: the site is usable at up to 200% zoom without loss of content or functionality
- Keyboard-only navigation: all functions accessible without a mouse
If you use an older or less common combination and experience issues, please let us know.
6. Reporting an Accessibility Issue
If you find anything on our website difficult to use, or you cannot access information you need, please contact us. We aim to respond to accessibility queries within five working days.
Please tell us:
- The page or feature where you encountered the issue (the URL is helpful)
- What you were trying to do
- What happened (or didn't happen) — including any error messages
- What assistive technology, browser, and operating system you were using
If you need a specific piece of information in an alternative format (large print, plain text, audio summary, or a phone call with a human reading it to you), we will provide that free of charge.
7. Enforcement
If you are not satisfied with how we respond to an accessibility complaint, you can refer the matter to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), which enforces the Equality Act 2010 in the UK. The EHRC can be contacted via equalityadvisoryservice.com or by phone on 0808 800 0082.
8. How This Statement Was Prepared
This accessibility statement was prepared on 21 May 2026 following a self-assessment of our website against WCAG 2.1 Level AA criteria. We reviewed:
- Semantic markup and ARIA across all 125 pages
- Form labelling on all contact forms (31 pages)
- Image alt-text coverage (346 images, 100% covered)
- Keyboard navigation paths through key user journeys
- Mobile responsiveness at 320px, 375px, 414px, 768px, and larger viewports
- Cookie banner accessibility (role, aria-label, keyboard operability, prefers-reduced-motion)
We will review this statement at least annually and whenever we make significant changes to the website.
